The Brothers of Xavier Scholasticate Celebrated a Mass for the Late Pope Francis

Pope Francis, one of the great spiritual leaders of the Catholic Church, has passed away, leaving an irreplaceable void in the hearts of the faithful around the world. Throughout his years of leading the Church, Pope Francis bore witness to a life of humility, love, and dedicated service to the poor and the marginalized. He was a model of a loving shepherd who never ceased to raise his voice for justice and peace, while constantly encouraging the faithful to live their faith in concrete, accessible, and practical ways.

In the face of his passing, the brothers of Xavier Scholasticate in Saigon, together with the entire Church, deeply feel the magnitude of this loss. Yet, even in our sorrow, we recognize this moment as a time of communion in prayer—offering to God our gratitude for the mission Pope Francis faithfully fulfilled, and entrusting his soul to the Lord, asking that he be welcomed into eternal life. The Mass offered for the repose of Pope Francis’s soul was not merely a liturgical celebration, but a profound act of communion with the universal Church, expressing love and reverence for the shepherd who has gone before us.
The Mass was celebrated in a solemn and deeply moving atmosphere. It provided an opportunity for the brothers of the scholasticate to express their heartfelt communion with the global Church in this time of mourning, and to give thanks to God for the many graces Pope Francis bestowed upon humanity through his teachings, wise decisions, and acts of love.
During this Eucharistic celebration, we prayed that God may forgive and receive Pope Francis’s soul into His Kingdom, where he may be rewarded for a lifetime of faithful service to God and to the Church. This moment also served as a reminder of the brevity of human life, calling each of us to live our faith more deeply and more fervently, following the example set by Pope Francis himself.
This Mass of prayer stands as an expression of the brothers’ fidelity and communion with the universal Church, and in a particular way with Pope Francis, who carried the heavy responsibility of the Petrine ministry for so many years. Together, we lifted our prayers in faith and unity, asking the Lord to grant him eternal rest in the loving embrace of God.
